What’s that mean, iPhone2,1? It indicates the next generation of iPhones will soon be upon us! The current iPhone identification scheme is as follows;

iPhone1,1 = iPhone 1 (4gb,8gb) Edge
iPhone1,2 = iPhone 2 (8gb,16gb) 3G

There’s been talk for weeks now about hints inside Apple’s firmware which would indicate they are in the process of making the next generation iPhone. As you can see in the screenshot of Apple clearly indicates iPhone2,1 at the very top. Apple has been hard at work with their new team of ARM processor designers, and speculation is leading to multi-core CPUs and GPUs in the next iPhone. With June being the normal release date, we’ll soon find out what’s in store for us and the next gen iPhone.

2.2.1 beta, push notifications?

Now that 2.2 is out, most are already bored and are looking for the next big thing. Yea Google Street View is fantastic, but we are always looking for more. A few people are speculating what’s to come in the next firmware, but the folks at russianiphone.ru claim to have a fresh beta copy already in their hands. They also say they’ve found evidence of Push Notification services available in 2.2.1. In the photo below you’ll see numbered badge notifications on the calendar and notes, which would suggest these are new and synced from your Mobile Me account. Photos like this are easily faked, but I’m not jumping to conclusions yet. We’ll just have to wait and see what’s to come. [RussianiPhone.ru]
